Cultivating Loving Awareness - A Mindfulness Refresher Day for Graduates of an Eight Week Mindfulness Course (8th September, Gravesend, Kent)

Why a Refresher Day?

After completing a Mindfulness course it is often noticed that is can be challenging to maintain a daily practice, therefore this day is offered as a way to help you maintain and deepen your practice with the support of the group energy and guidance.

It is also an opportunity to re-connect with your practice in a fresh way by providing yourself with the precious time and space to come back home to yourself and become familiar again with how it is to rest there.

The Theme

The theme of this refresher day will be cultivating a Loving Awareness, through remembering to connect again and again to the BEING mode of mind and simply abiding in its non-judgemental kind presence via a number of mindfulness meditation methods.

We shall also explore the Loving Kindness meditation for our self and others in more depth and see how awareness and loving kindness practices support each other.

The day will include group practice, inquiry and a period of silence during lunch to support mindfulness of eating.

We will enjoy a bring and share vegetarian lunch together.

Refreshments provided but please bring a yoga mat and blanket, thank you.

Sunday 8th September, 10:30am - 4:30pm

Advanced booking is suggested as it helps plan for the day and also sets up a commitment in ones mind to attend - as we all know how ingenious our mind can be when coming up with endless things we feel we need to do, get, change or avoid instead of becoming more familiar with our capacity to allow, let go and rest in our natural state of being.

RUN:ZEN - Mindfulness for Runners Events throughout 2020

Why Running and Mindfulness?

Running is now one of the most popular forms of exercise in the UK, with studies suggesting a range of benefits for the health of our body and mind, such as helping to prevent obesity, heart disease and high blood pressure, and boosting sleep quality and mood.

In recent years, there has also been a growing interest in mindfulness, with research linking a regular and sustained mindfulness practice with a decrease in the incidence of depression, anxiety and stress, an improved ability to regulate our emotions, and an increase in focus and attention.

RUN:ZEN's  Mindfulness for Runners combines the benefits of both running and mindfulness into an integrated whole for more enjoyable runs and greater all round well-being whether on the cushion, on the trail or in everyday life.

Public Eight Week Mindfulness Course (April 30th - June 25th, Rochester, Kent)

Training in mindfulness, like anything needs to be consistent to bring results and that's what a structured eight week course, complete with group work and individual home practice is designed to do. It is perfect for those who are completely new and those looking to commit more to their current practice with the support of the course, the group and an instructor.

The course will provide you with the opportunity to learn a combination of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction and Cognitive Therapy techniques, through formal and informal practices that can be easily integrated into your daily life, including mindfulness of eating, breath, bodily sensations, thoughts, feelings, sounds and movement, as well as a number of other positive psychology techniques and thought experiments that support the process.

The Course will be supported by

  • An e-booklet helping you explore and deepen you understanding of the themes covered in your weekly sessions. It will also include weekly Home Practice Guidance and Record Sheets to help you keep track of your progress.

  • Online guided Audio Meditations to guide and support you in your home practice.

  • Email support in between sessions with Cesare to discuss or elucidate any points emerging during your home practice.

  • Certificate of completion (issued only if attendance is 75% or more)

Each of the eight sessions will cover a particular theme

1. Waking Up To Automatic Pilot

2. Living in Our Heads

3.Gathering the Scattered Mind

4. Recognising the Mind's Habits

5. Allowing and Letting Be

6.Thoughts Are Not Facts

7. Taking Care of Ourself

8. Maintaining and Deepening Practice

The course will also include a silent retreat day usually on or close to the weekend before the last session, where we will practice the techniques and methods learnt in silence together, allowing us to deepen into and consolidate the practice we have put in over the weeks.

  • Please note that this course includes a daily commitment of up to 45 minutes of home practice in-between sessions. The home practice elements are a core feature of these courses, enabling participants to become familiar with them and explore their cumulative benefits. Simply attending the taught components of these courses, although useful, wont allow for the complete experience and benefits the course is designed to provide.

  • Prior to the start of the course there will be a questionnaire (to assess prior experience and any physical and/or mental health needs) for all prospective participants to complete and return.
