Training, Experience & Qualifications

I have a Certificate in Counselling Skills and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Integrative Counselling which provides me with the flexibility to draw on a number of theories and approaches best suited to your needs.

My training as a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor was within the

Kent and Medway NHS Social Care Partnership Trust.  The course was fully  Accredited  by  the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP),  the largest professional organisation which represents Counselling and Psychotherapy in the United Kingdom.

I have a specialism in Mindfulness.  My training in this area builds upon my long-term interest and practice of mindfulness and enhances my professional tool kit as a therapist, by allowing me to bring elements of Mindfulness into my work where it serves clients, adding a dimension to my practice that isn't always found in other approaches.

My previous professional training is a Post-Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) from the Institute of Education, University of London.

My Undergraduate Degree is in Western Analytical Philosophy from King's College, University of London.

Experience

Previously I worked in the fields of Education, Training and Employability Skills, initially as a Secondary School Teacher and then as a contractor within the UK Prison System as a Career Advisor, Educational Tutor, Team Leader, Manager and staff Mentor.  Following this I worked in the field of Addiction with male and female clients and became familiar with 12 Step work associated with the Fellowships.

I have worked as a Counsellor with teenagers and young adults within a College, helping them meet the struggles often experienced during an intense, pressurised and confusing time in life.

I deliver Mindfulness Courses, Days and Workshops for individuals, groups and organisations including NHS Primary Care Staff with the Tenterden Mindfulness Group.  I am also co-founder of and a Mindful Running Coach at RUN:ZEN, which integrates the benefits of mindfulness and running for greater all round well-being.

Finally, I set up and have been facilitating a weekly not-for-profit Mindfulness Meditation group since 2013 in a voluntary capacity and have been receiving guidance and instruction in Mindfulness Meditation from international teachers since 2008.

Having worked with both male and female adults and teenage clients within prisons, colleges and private practice 1:1 and in groups, I have experience helping with a number of problems and difficulties including, but not exclusively, those that are related to:
